Our vineyard

In 1924, Justin Gardien, who came from a long line of wine-growers, decided to acquire the Chassignolles vineyard, where he set up base with his wife and son. And so it was that the Domaine Gardien was born.

In that era, wines were sold in barrels and were not the subject of any particular appellation.

In 1933, his son René succeeded him, and under his stewardship, the business soon obtained the Vin de Saint-Pourçain label.
In 1959, after Bernard took over the helm, he decided to start selling its wine in bottles, initially in small amounts, then gradually over the years, the entire harvest. Having entered the family business in 1991 and 1996 respectively, Olivier and Christophe now run this vineyard of over 20 hectares.

Its red, white and rosé are sold throughout France.

The vines of the domaine are located in the Besson district.

Planted on plateaus and facing South and East, the soils there are clayey and covered with "Bourbonnais gravel".

These well-draining soils allow the rapid evacuation of rain water, maintaining the vines in a dry and therefore healthy environment.

The presence of white pebbles stimulates rapid warming and significant reflection of the sun's rays. Consequently, the land is especially precocious and produces wines of incomparable fruitiness.
